The Kingdom to host the Spanish Super Cup for the third time as part of the events of the Diriyah Season 202208 November 2022
The Ministry of sport announced today that the Kingdom will host the Spanish Super Cup for the third time in a row, from January 11 to 15, with the participation of four teams (Real Madrid-Barcelona-Valencia-Real Betis) as part of the activities of the Diriyah Season 2022.
The King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh will host the forthcoming tournament, which will be played in the knockout system, where Real Madrid, the Spanish league champion, will meet Valencia in the semi-final match, while Real Betis, the Spanish Cup champion, will play its rival Barcelona. The two winners advance to the legendary Spanish Super Cup final. This is the third edition that the Kingdom has hosted. The first, in 2020, was held in Jeddah and was won by the Spanish team Real Madrid, which defeated Atletico Madrid in the final match. The second, which took place in early 2022, was played in Riyadh, where Real Madrid also won the championship with its victory over Athletic Bilbao
Moreover, the activities of the Diriyah Season will feature another global football event, represented by organizing the Italian Super Cup for the third time, which will bring together the poles of Milan (Inter Milan-AC Milan) at King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. The Spanish and Italian Super Cups will be preceded by another football event within the activities of the Diriyah Season 2022 as well. The Saudi Al-Hilal team will play against Newcastle at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh on December 8, 2022.
This comes as part of a package of events and activities scheduled in the Diriyah Season 2022 program, which includes the planning and organizing of numerous international sporting events, with the presence of international stars and famous athletes in a number of games, in addition to organizing a variety of cultural and entertainment events.
