Diriyah, December 2, 2025: Since its opening on 9 November in the historic Al-Tawalie area as the first program of Diriyah Season 25/26, Souq Al-Mawsim has continued to attract visitors to its unique location as one of the most significant sites tied to Diriyah’s commercial and cultural legacy through the ages. The market launched amid the ambiance of "Al-Najnaj"—the vibrant voices of vendors and shoppers in traditional Najdi markets—recalling the dynamic social and commercial energy of the past.

Within its distinctive atmosphere, visitors of Souq Al-Mawsim are drawn to the rich cultural diversity, especially during the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Japan. Kyoto’s Japanese culture, with its blend of deep-rooted traditions and modern innovations, is highlighted through the fusion of katana swords and the Saudi bisht crafted from luxurious Japanese fabrics, using unique techniques that embody the cultural richness of both nations.

Souq Al-Mawsim also offers a cultural experience blending hospitality, traditions, and the arts. Across all its zones and events, visitors are immersed in a journey through time, with live performances, workshops ranging from wood carving and painting to Japanese language lessons, as well as offerings of Saudi coffee and Japanese matcha.

Children and families play a prominent role in the experience, with a large dedicated area featuring traditional games from both Saudi and Japanese cultures. The selection of Al-Tawalie as the venue for Souq Al-Mawsim is a key element in achieving the program’s goals of showcasing Diriyah’s cultural and historical identity and enhancing its global position as a destination for heritage and cultural exchange. Historically, the area was linked to trade and agriculture along the banks of Wadi Hanifah and served as a major stop for caravans and travelers during the First Saudi State.
