Wadi Safar
In the heart of nature where history and landscape intertwine, Wadi Safar stretches as a living geological and historical masterpiece. It is the largest tributary of Wadi Hanifah, originating from Tuwaiq Mountain about fifty kilometers northwest of Riyadh, flowing gracefully toward Wadi Hanifah. The valley is distinguished by its fertile rock formations and agricultural lands that, throughout history, have served as a source of prosperity, a refuge for residents, and a vital support for farming and settlements along its banks. Wadi Safar was a cherished destination for relaxation and recreation, especially in winter, when its crisp air and gentle breeze brought serenity to the people of Diriyah. The valley was known for its natural wells, which gave the landscape an atmosphere of tranquility and captivating beauty. Strategically, it also held great importance due to its location southwest of Diriyah, serving as a principal defensive zone during the First Saudi State and standing as a witness to a history deeply rooted in the nation’s memory. Today, Wadi Safar continues to tell new chapters of beauty and creativity, where the voice of heritage meets the whispers of nature. Through the “Sada Al-Wadi” program, it offers an extraordinary evenings of music and poetry that celebrates Saudi folk art—particularly the Samri tradition—reflecting the authentic culture of Diriyah.
